New Lake District Baggage Transfer Business Ready For A Busy Season

product_bfcm_4.2

I’m always excited when new businesses appear in our wonderful little community of long distance hiking. 15 – 20 years ago the idea of baggage transfer was unheard of, but in the same way as trekkers in remote areas of the world use porters and mules to carry kit, walkers closer to home wanted the same level of luxury.

However in reality, for many having bags transferred is not a luxury. We have an aging population, with many walkers being well past the point of being able to shoulder 10-15kg while putting in long miles. Therefore baggage transfer has become a necessity, and a welcome one to tired shoulders.

The Baggage Transfer industry has undoubtedly grown significantly into a really interesting little niche business opportunity – lucrative if done right, and at the least, easily able to support a comfortable income.

Most major trails now benefit from baggage transfer. Even the Offa’s Dyke now has a fully serviced offering from 2021.

It was therefore a great pleasure to hear that Lake District Baggage Transfer has recently launched offering their services to cyclists and walkers. The business is based near Penrith on the edge of the Lake District National Park, with the service extending across the Lake District, North Pennines, and the Eden Valley.

The long-distance walks currently covered are:

Cumbria Way
Cumberland Way
Eden Way
Furness Way
Lake District Circuit
Hadrian’s Wall
Walkers bespoke routes
North half of Pennines Way
C2C as far as Richmond

The business is run by Chris and Simon, both of whom are lifelong walking friends with many miles under their boots. They aim to provide a fuss-free efficient service to support the adventures of their customers. With years of experience in the corporate jungle behind them, they believe in the value of a well-run operation.

I’m sure you will join me in wishing Lake District Baggage Transfer the best of luck.
