Getting To And From The Great Glen Way

The West Highland Way starts in outskirts of Glasgow in Milngavie high street. The route finishes in Fort William, sat on the East bank of Loch Eli. The route takes anywhere between 5 – 9 days of walking in total, with a maximum daily mileage of 22 miles on shorter itineraries.

Reaching the start of the West Highland Way is an easy affair, with the starting point of Milngavie being easily accessible from Glasgow. Milngavie is located 8 miles from Glasgow City Center. 

The journey will take anywhere between 15-50 minutes depending on your mode of transport.

Getting From Fort William

Fort William to Glasgow

Being a popular tourist town, Fort William is well linked to Glasgow. Scottish Citylink operates a bus from Fort William bus station to Buchanan Bus Station four times daily. Tickets are between £20 – £29.00 depending on when you book and the journey takes 3hrs 15 minutes. Alternatively, ScotRail has trains running from Fort William to Glasgow Queens Street 3 times daily. Tickets are between £24 – £75.00 depending on when you book and the journey takes 3hrs 55 minutes.
